Growth form Terrestrial. Rhizome not seen. Roots filiform, flexible, glabrous. Stem proliferously leafed, entirely covered by leaf-sheaths. Leaf ovate-lanceolate, narrowed towards apex, obtusely concave, convex below, carnose; apex unequally 2-lobed, both lobes obtuse; base twisted; lamina 3.5 cm long, 0.87 cm wide; sheath tight clasping, tubular, in cross section elliptic, warty, rugulose; apex toothed, with glabrous margin. Inflorescences terminal, multi-flowered, capitate, nodding, dense, when young enveloped by a spathe. Spathe suborbicular, concave, 1.3 cm long; floral bracts broad, orbicular-ovate, subacuminate, above often dentate, strongly concave, 3-nerved, 1.1 cm long, 0.9 cm wide. Flowers upright. Median sepal ovate-triangular, obtuse, apiculate, concave, 3-nerved, 0.74 cm long, 0.4 cm wide. Lateral sepals fused, forming a backward pointing sac that enclosed the spur, obliquely triangular, acute, long verruculose-subulate-apiculate, 5-nerved, when flattened to the apex of the sac 1 cm long, each 1.17 cm wide, free part 0.5 cm long, 0.5 cm wide. Petal rhombic-oblong, apex recurved, obtuse, 3-nerved, 0.63 cm long, 0.3 cm wide. Lip adnate to the column, subentire, 0.6 cm long in total, when flattened broadly triangular, 0.3 cm long, 0.57 cm wide; epichile obtuse, obtusely apiculate; hypochile concave, transversely thickened, spurred; spur appressed to the ovary, saccate, broadly obtuse, in front convex, dorsally flat, 0.4 cm long. Column curved, dorsally compressed, dilated above, 3-lobed, dorsally longitudinally grooved, 0.26 cm long, 0.26 cm wide ; clinandrium broadly triangular, truncate, subcrenulate; stelidia patent, obliquely subquadrangular, crenulate, lower margin with a tooth. Anther not seen; rostellum broad, broadly retuse, stalked, peltate, reniform-triangular with rounded angles, margin recurved, 0.24 cm wide; pollinia not seen; stigma broad; viscidium not seen. Ovary 6-grooved, 0.6 cm long. Capsule not seen.
Distribution – Papua New Guinea.
Habitat and Ecology – Terrestrial in upper montane forest. Altitude 3250. Flowering in April in the wild.
