Habitat and Ecology - Epiphyte in dense forest on high ridges. Altitude 1300-2100 m. Flowering in September and February in the wild, fruiting between December and May in the wild.

Notes -  1. Flowers white, distal portion of labellum pink or red-tinged. Fragrant? Check in Hortus.

2. The epithet montana refers to the mountaneous habitus.

3. Description only based on the drawing of the type specimen and original description made by Reichenbach and an updated description from Flora Vitiensis Nova.

4. Spirit collection No. 24268 Identified as G. montana does not match with the type description and drawing, especially in the lip.
