Growth form Epiphyte, erect or patent, up to 40 cm high. Rhizome very short. Roots filiform, long, flexible, glabrous. Stem slender, compressed, strongly branched, proliferously leafed, completely covered by leaf sheaths. Leaf linear or linear-lanceolate; apex oblique, subacute; base subpetiolate-narrowed; lamina 1-1.4 cm long, 0.15-0.2 cm wide; sheath tight, tubular, shiny, with few raised nerves; apex toothed, with bristled margin, bristles 0.5-0.8 cm long. Inflorescences terminal, one-flowered, when young enveloped by a spathe. Spathe tight, clasping, elliptic, apex subacute, outside with sparsely black lines, 0.594 cm long, 0.44 cm wide; floral bracts thin, transparent, elliptic, apex subacute, shorter than ovary. Flowers upright, glabrous. Median sepal oblong, apex apiculate, 0.9 cm long, 0.34 cm wide. Lateral sepals subfalcate, apex oblique, base dilated along the front margins, widened, 0.8 cm long, base 0.34 cm wide, in the middle 0.254 cm wide. Petal obliquely elliptic-spathulate, apex obtuse, 1 cm long, 0.4 cm wide. Lip obovate, 0.4 cm long, 0.3 cm wide; epichile rounded, apiculate, with brown glands; hypochile spurred; spur quadrate, 0.2 cm long, apex emarginate. Column curved, glabrous, 1.1 cm long; clinandrium broadly triangular, obtuse, in middle on either side with a small obtuse tooth; stelidia not seen. Anther broadly cucullate, with obtuse projection, in front ascending, obtuse, glabrous, 0.254 cm long, 0.20 cm wide; rostellum not seen; stigma not seen; pollinia 4, pear-shaped, 0.20 cm long, 0.08 cm wide; viscidium absent. Ovary cylindrical, glabrous, with sessile glands, 0.6 cm long. Capsule not seen.
Distribution – Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
Habitat and Ecology - Epiphyte in montane forest. Altitude 1300 m. Flowering in January in the wild.
Notes - 1. Flowers white with fine grey-green dots on the tip of the lip; anther white, light brown in front.
2. The epithet adenocarpa refers to the glands on the fruit (aden- means glands and –carpa means fruit in Latin).
