Growth form Epiphyte, erect, up to 15 cm high. Rhizome not seen. Roots filiform, flexible, glabrous. Stem partly simple, partly branched, slender, proliferously leafed, entirely covered by leaf sheaths. Leaf linear-lanceolate, erect-patent, glabrous; apex unequally 2-lobed, both lobes obtuse; base wider, petiolate-narrowed; lamina 1-3 cm long, 0.2-0.4 cm wide; sheath tight clasping, striate, glabrous; apex toothed, with bristled margin, bristle 0.05 cm long. Inflorescences terminal, one-flowered, when young enveloped by a spathe. Spathe not seen; floral bracts not seen. Flowers upright, 1-2 cm long, glabrous. Median sepal ligulate-oblong, obtuse, 1 cm long, 0.2 cm wide. Lateral sepals not seen. Petal obliquely spathulate-elliptic, base unguiculate-narrowed, obtuse, 1 cm long, 0.3 cm wide. Lip triangular, at base subovate, 0.5 cm long, 0.3 cm wide; epichile narrowed, subacute, straight margin; hypochile spurred; spur short, obtuse. Column 0.1 cm long, glabrous; clinandrium with few teeth, apex truncate; stelidia not seen. Anther not seen; rostellum not seen; pollinia not seen; stigma not seen; viscidium not seen. Ovary cylindrical, glabrous, 0.5 cm long. Capsule not seen.
Distribution – Papua New Guinea.
Habitat and Ecology – Epiphyte in upper montane forest of Laiagam district. Altitude 2950 m. Flowering in February in the wild.
Notes - 1. Flowers white.
2. The epithet altomontana refers to the altitude where this species was found (alti- means high in Latin; -montana means mountains in Latin).
