Growth form Epiphyte, up to 65 cm long. Rhizome not seen. Roots filiform, flexible, glabrous. Stem pendulous, not or sparsely branching, proliferously leafed, entirely covered by leaf sheaths. Leaf  oblong-lanceolate, subpatent, coriaceous; apex unequally 2-lobed; base cordate; lamina  3.5-5 cm long, 1-1.3 cm wide; sheath tight clasping, warty. Inflorescences terminal, multi-flowered, capitate, 4-4.5 cm wide, when young enveloped by a spathe. Spathe not seen; floral bracts lanceolate, as long as the ovary, apex acute. Flowers upright, 1.5 cm long. Median sepal oblong, 1.1 cm long, 0.48 cm wide apex obtuse. Lateral sepals oblique, 1.1 cm long, 0.8 cm wide, fused just below the apex, apex obtuse. Petal narrowly obliquely oblong-ligulate, 1.1 cm long, 0.44 cm wide, apex obtuse. Lip oblong, concave, 0.5 cm long, 0.34 cm wide; epichile broadly obtuse; hypochile spurred; spur saccate, shorter than the lip, broadly obtuse. Column erect, 0.24 cm long, with column foot; clinandrium not seen; stelidia not seen. Anther broadly cordate, in front sub truncate, 0.26 cm long, 0.4 cm wide; rostellum not seen; pollinia 4, obliquely pear-shaped, 0.24 cm long; stigma not seen; viscidium not seen. Ovary not seen. Capsule not seen.

Distribution – Papua New Guinea.

Habitat and Ecology – Epiphyte in lower montane forest. Altitude 1100 m. Flowering in April in the wild.

Notes - 1. Flower white with bright red lip.

2. The epithet torricellensis refers to the Torricelli range, southwest of Aitape, where this species was collected.
