Glomera ambuensis (P.Royen) J.M.H.Shaw, Orchid Rev. 124(1314, Suppl.): 36 (2016).

Growth form Epiphythe, erect, up to 50 cm high. Rhizome 2-3 mm in diameter. Root  filiform,  flexible, glabrous. Stem branched, cylindrical, proliferously leafed, internodes 4.5-6 mm long. Leaf linear, coriaceous, glabrous; apex unequally 2-lobed, both lobe obtuse; base oblique; lamina 0.6-1.8 cm long, 0.1-0.23 cm wide, 7-nerved, prominent nerves below; sheaths tight, densely transversely warty; apex toothed, with bristled margin, bristles 0.1-0.25 cm long, many-ribbed. Inflorescences terminal, one-flowered, up to 1.2 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, when young enveloped by a spathe. Spathe obovoid-oblong, warty, with brown spots, 1.05-1.5 cm long, 0.3-0.65 cm wide, 5-nerved, apex obtuse, conoid-apiculate; floral bracts thin, transparent, with brown spots, 1.1-1.4 cm long, 0.3-0.62 cm wide, 3-nerved, with brown spots, apex obtuse, conoid-apiculate. Flower upright. Median sepal lanceolate, 1.3 cm long, 0.22-0.3 cm wide, 5-nerved at base, 9-nerved in higher parts; apex acute, conoid-apiculate, papillate, base ovately widened. Lateral sepal falcate, free, 1.4 cm long, 0.3 cm wide, 5-nerved at base, up to 6-nerved in higher parts; apex acute, conoid-apiculate, papillatebase auricled-widened. Petal linear, 1-1.1 cm long, 0.2-0.3 cm wide, 3-nerved at base, 5-nerved in higher parts; apex obtuse, base ovately-widened. Lip cordate-ovate, adnate to the column, 3-lobed, 0.3-0.5 cm long, 0.5 cm wide; epichile lobe obtuse, thickened, with brown glands, grooved on underside, 5-nerved; hypochile with transparent keel in the middle of the lamina, spurred; spur subclavate, shallowly grooved above in basal part, 1.05-1.1 cm long. Column 0.18-0.20 cm long, 0.15 cm wide, slightly curved, without column foot; clinandrium dentate-crenulate margin with two acute lobes. Anther not seen. Ovary cylindric, 1.1 cm long, glabrous, 3-ribbed, punctate. Capsule not seen.

Distribution – Papua New Guinea.

Habitat and Ecology- Epiphyte in montane forest on Mt. Kerewa. Altitude 3100 m. Flowering in July in the wild.

Notes – 1. Flowers greenish yellow, not fragrant.

2. The Epithet kerewensis  refers to Mt. Kerewa where the type specimen was collected.
