Growth form Epiphyte, erect or patent, up to 40 cm high. Rhizome not seen. Roots long, filiform, flexible, glabrous. Stem rigid, proliferously leafed, completely covered by leaf sheaths. Leaf oblong-ligulate, erect-patent, glabrous, thick-coriaceous; apex unequal 2-lobed, both lobes obtuse; base narrowed; lamina 1.8-2.5 cm long, 0.5-0.7 cm wide; sheath tubular, truncate, densely warty, rugulose; apex toothed, with glabrous margin. Inflorescences terminal, 10-20-flowered, capitulate, nodding, when young enveloped by a spathe. Spathe apiculate; floral bracts transparent, thin, apiculate, half as long as the ovary. Flowers upright, glabrous. Median sepal oblong, obtuse, 0.45 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique, fused in basal quarter, minutely apiculate. Petal spathulate-oblong, obtuse, shorter than sepals, oblique. Lip subquadrate, 0.2 cm long, 0.15 cm wide; epichile obtusely apiculate; hypochile in middle with small callosity, spurred; spur quadrate-oblongoid, broadly obtuse, 0.35 cm long, 0.2 cm wide. Column half as long as the lip, glabrous; clinandrium 3-lobulate, median lobule larger than laterals; stelidia not seen. Anther not seen; pollinia 4, pear-shaped; rostellum not seen; stigma not seen; viscidium not seen. Ovary cylindric, glabrous, 0.7 cm long. Capsule not seen.

Distribution – Papua New Guinea.

Habitat and Ecology - Epiphyte in montane forest. Altitude 1200 m. Flowering in June in the wild.

2. The epithet obtusa refers to the obtuse epichile of the lip.
