Glomera flammula Schltr., Repert. Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. Beih. 1:287 (1912)- Type :  Schlechter 18751 (holotype, B lost; isotype, K)

Growth form Epiphyte, pendulous, up to 65 cm high. Rhizome ca. 1 mm in diameter. Roots filiform, flexible, glabrous. Stem compressed, rigid, branched, densely leafy,  completely covered by leaf sheaths. Leaf  linear-lanceolate, erect-patent; apex narrowly obtuse or strongly unequally 2-lobed, both lobes obtuse; base strongly oblique, cuneate; lamina 4-8 cm long, 0.4-0.8 cm wide; sheath tubular, with transverse warts; apex toothed, with glabrous margin. Inflorescences terminal, multi-flowered, subglobose, 2 cm in diameter, when young enveloped by a spathe. Spathe tubular, broad, apex apiculate; floral bracts transparent, thin. Flowers upside-down, glabrous, not fully opened. Median sepal broadly oblong, apex obtuse, 0.6 cm long, 0.3 cm wide. Lateral sepals oblique, connate up to apical fourth, 0.7 cm long, 0.215 cm wide. Petal obliquely oblong-elliptic, apex narrowly obtuse, 0.61 cm long, 0.3 cm wide. Lips broadly obovate, 0.25 cm long, 0.2 cm wide;  epichile subretuse; hypochile spurred; spur subglobose, broadly obtuse, 0.15 cm long, 0.15 cm wide. Column 0.18 cm long; clinandrium crenulate; stelidia not seen. Anther broadly cucullate, projection obtuse, in front retuse, 2 mm long, 1 mm wide; rostellum not seen; stigma not seen; pollinia 4, pear-shaped, 1.8 mm long ; viscidium present. Ovary cylindrical, glabrous, 0.45 cm long. Capsule not seen.

Distribution –Papua New Guinea.

Habitat and Ecology - Epiphyte in the upper montane forest of Kaiser Wilhelmsland. Altitude 2400-2500 m. Flowering season not known.

Notes -  1. Flowers golden yellow with vermillion ornamentation on the tip of the lip.

2. The epithet  flammula refers to  the golden yellow color of the flower resembling a flame (flammula  means little flame in Latin)
