Growth form Epiphyte, up to 30 cm high. Rhizome 2-3 mm in diameter. Roots filiform, 13 cm long, flexible, glabrous. Stem branched, cylindrical, proliferously leafed, internode 0.83-0.85 cm long, 1-2 mm in diameter. Leaf ligulate to ligulate-lanceolate, carnose, coriaceous, with brown spot upper and below, 1.4-3.5 cm long, 0.2-0.8 cm wide; apex unequal 2-lobed, both lobe obtuse; base cuneate; sheath tight, warty; apex toothed, with bristled margin, bristle 0.03-0.1 cm long Inflorescences terminal, one-flowered, when young enveloped by a spathe. Spathe broadly oblong to ovate elliptic, acute, sparsely punctate, 0.7-1.2 cm long, 0.5-0.7 cm wide; floral bract thin, transparent, elliptic to elliptic-obovate, 0.5-0.8 cm long, 0.4-0.7 cm wide. Flower upright, glabrous. Median sepal oval, 4-nerved, with or without brown spots, 0.5-0.6 cm long, 0.2-0.3 cm wide; apex apiculate. Lateral sepal oval to elliptic oval, free, 0.8-1.1 cm long, 0.4-0.55 cm wide; apex apiculate, base free. Petal obovate to oblong-obovate, 0.8-1.1 cm long, 0.27-0.55 cm wide; apex obtuse to subacute. Lip transversely subrhombic, 0.3-0.55 cm long, 0.35-0.6 cm wide, spurred; epichile obtuse, brownish color, slightly thickened; hypochile 6-nerved, with one lateral keel, spurred; spur narrowly conical-cylindric, apex obtuse, 0.5-0.6 cm long. Column glabrous, with column foot, 0.2-0.7 cm long; apex curved inward; clinandrium deeply excavate, broad, dorsal margin laxly and irregulary toothed to subentire; stelidia not seen. Anther transverse-ovate, 0.13 cm long; apex subacute; pollinia obliquely pyriform, compressed laterally 0.6 mm long; viscidium small, peltate; rostellum erect, transverse, broadly retuse at apex; stigma transversely elliptic, posterior margin prominently raised. Ovary cylindric, 3-ribbed, 0.7-0.8 cm long. Capsule not seen.
Distribution – Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, The New Hebrides and Fiji.
Habitat and Ecology – Epiphyte in dense forest and thickets on high ridges of Mt. Tabwemasana and Mt. Namama. Altitude 670-1350 m. Flowering in June and November in the wild.
