Glomera saccharipanis Ormerod, Malesian Orchid J. 16:63(2015) –Type: R.D.Hoogland & R. Schodde 7184 (holotype A)
Growth form Epiphyte. Rhizome not seen. Roots cylindrical, 0.1 cm thick. Stem pendulous, lower part transversely elliptic in cross-section, higher up more compressed, laxly 5-6-branched, 43 cm long, 0.2 cm wide, 0.3-0.45 cm across the leaf sheaths, branchlets 13.8-26.3 cm long. Leaf thinly carnose, lanceolate; apex acute to to minutely obtuse; lamina 1.6-4.4 cm long, 0.5-0.85 cm wide; sheath compressed-tubular, truncate to obliquely truncate, striate, generally glabrous on lower half, laxly minutely warty above; apex without tooth, with glabrous margin. Inflorescences terminal, densely many-flowered, 1.1-1.5 cm long, 2 cm wide, when young covered by spathe. Spathe not seen; floral bracts not seen. Flowers upright, glabrous. Median sepal ovate-elliptic, 0.4 cm long, 0.32 cm wide, apex subacute, 5-nerved. Lateral sepals obliquely ovate-elliptic, 0.42 cm long, 0.65 cm wide, base dilated, formed synsepal dorsally conical-oblongoid enclose the spur, 3.5 mm long, apex subacute, 5-nerved, Petal elliptic, 4.2 cm long, 2.5 cm wide, apex subacute, 3-nerved. Lip entire, transversely lunate-elliptic, joined to column for 0.06 cm, 0.18 cm long, 0.3 cm wide; epichile obtuse; hypochile spurred; spur cornuform, 0.4 cm long, apex obtuse. Column stout, 0.2 cm long, with column foot; clinandrium deltate, obtuse-truncate; stelidia not seen. Anther not seen; rostellum not seen; stigma not seen; pollinia not seen; viscidium not seen. Ovary fusiform, 0.4 cm long. Capsule not seen.
Distribution – Papua New Guinea
Habitat and Ecology - Epiphyte in montane forest of Sugarloaf complex (along Wapu River), Wabag subdistrict. Altitude 2895 m. Flowering time April in the wild.
