Inflorescence terminal on a specialized shoot which does not carry normal leaves and usually has only a rudimentary pseudobulb. Such inflorescences (occurring for example in species of Mediocalcar and Mischobulbum) have the appearance of being basal. See also hysteranthous, proteranthous, and synanthous.
