Glomera geelvinkensis J.J.Sm., Meded. Rijks-Herb. 23:6 (1915) – Type: Janowsky 396 (holotype BO, not seen; isotype L)

Growth form Epiphyte, suberect, up to 11 cm high. Rhizome ca. 1 mm in diameter. Root filiform, up to 5 cm long, flexible, glabrous. Stem branched, filiform, proliferously leafed, internodes 0.35-0.7 cm long. Leaf  subulate, patent, slightly recurved, carnose; apex unequally obtusebase contracted;  lamina 0.43-1.5 cm long, 0.1-0.18 cm wide; sheath tight, tubular, angular, smooth, ribbed, sparsely warty; apex toothed, with bristled margin, bristles 0.1-0.3 cm long. Inflorescences terminal, one-flowered, when young enveloped by spathe. Spathe ovate, transparent, glabrous, 0.5-0.53 cm long, 0.40 cm wide, 6-nerved, apex acuminate, with brown dots; floral bracts thin, transparent, ovate, apex apiculate, with brown dots, 0.42-0.47 cm long, 0.42 cm wide, 1-nerved. Flower upright. Median sepal oblong, 0.8-0.9 cm long, 0.30-0.33 cm wide, 5-nerved; apex obtuse, conical apiculate; base decurrent. Lateral sepal obliquely oblong, slightly falcate, 4-nerved at base, 5-nerved in higher part, 0.8-0.85 cm long, 0.33-0.35 cm wide; apex apiculate, incurved; base shortly connate. Petal cuneate-obovate, concave, 3-nerved, 0.75-0.85 cm long, 0.35 cm wide; apex obtuse. Lip orbicular-ovate, 0.20-0.28 cm long, 0.35-0.36 cm wide, adnate to the column, concave; epichile obtuse, with U-shaped area with brown glands , 5-nerved; hypochile spurred; spur shortly saccate, broadly obtuse, 0.13-0.25 cm long, 0.17 cm wide, 4-nerved at base, 5-nerved at the upper part. Column 0.15-0.25 cm long, with column foot; clinandrium deeply concave, transversely elliptic, apex broadly obtuse, with wavy-crenulate margin, with longitudinal ribs inside; stelidia tooth-like, shorter than rostelllum. Anther 0.14 cm wide, transversely elliptic, recurved apex, rounded; rostellum porrect, broadly retuse; stigma transverse, with raised and recurved margin; pollinia not seen; viscidium not seen. Ovary cylindric, 0.4-0.45 cm long, erect, slightly twisted, thickened above, glabrous, 3-ribbed, punctate. Capsule not seen.

Distribution –  Indonesia.

Habitat and Ecology - Epiphyte in montane forest on Mt. Jabi.  Altitude 0-1800 m. Flowering in June-July in the wild.

Notes - 1. Flowers white with brownish ornamentation on the tip of the lip.

 2. The epithet geelvinkensis refers to the location where the type specimen was collected (Geelvink Bay).
